Discipleship Group Leader Policy
Purpose
Discipleship Groups are a vital part of the mission of Christ Community Church. Group leaders are entrusted with the spiritual care, encouragement, and formation of others as they practice the way of Jesus together. Because of this responsibility, leadership is approached with prayerful discernment, proven faithfulness, and a demonstrated commitment to our church family.
Qualifications for Group Leadership
In order to be considered for serving as a Small Group Leader or Discipleship Group Leader at Christ Community Church, an individual must meet the following requirements:
Church Membership
Must be a member of Christ Community Church for a minimum of one (1) year.
Faithful Sunday Participation
Must demonstrate consistent and faithful attendance at Sunday morning worship gatherings.
Group Participation
Must have actively participated in a Discipleship Group at Christ Community Church for at least one (1) year.
Christlike Character & Reputation
Must have a good reputation within the church community, displaying Christlike character, humility, integrity, and spiritual maturity (cf. 1 Timothy 3:1–7; Titus 1:6–9).
Proven Service
Must have demonstrated faithfulness in serving in other areas of the church, showing a willingness to contribute beyond personal spiritual growth.
Community Engagement
Must regularly participate in church-wide community events, demonstrating commitment to the life and mission of Christ Community Church.
Leader Recommendation
Must receive a recommendation from the current Discipleship Group Leader with whom they have been in community.
Affirmation & Approval Process
Meeting these qualifications does not automatically result in placement as a group leader.
Final approval is prayerfully determined by the church leadership.
Leadership approval may include additional steps such as an interview, training, or a season of co-leading or apprenticeship.
Commitment of Group Leaders
Those approved as Small Group or Discipleship Group Leaders are expected to:
Lead with humility, love, and faithfulness to Scripture
Support the mission, vision, and doctrinal commitments of Christ Community Church
Model a life of growing obedience to Jesus
Maintain accountability and open communication with church leadership
Review & Ongoing Accountability
Group leadership is an ongoing relationship of trust. Leaders will be reviewed periodically and are expected to remain in good standing with the church and continue to meet the qualifications outlined above.
